This image of Take That was taken in 2009 on a commission from Volkswagen to publicise the bands use of VW Caravelle vans on their UK tour. It was taken whilst the band were appearing at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. This type of shoot rarely runs on time and this was no exception. The picture was to be done in the bowels of the stadium so when I arrived the van was set up alongside one of their tour wagons and the wait began. The lighting in the stadium was in photographic terms awful and barely existent. I'd have to resort to using flash so set up a couple of Nikon Speedlights on stands and did a couple of test shots and waited and waited and waited.......... There were lots of comings and goings but no sign of the band despite assurances they wouldn't be long. Eventually after what seemed like an eternity they appeared from their dressing rooms. There were handshakes, introductions and smiles from all members who couldn't have been more pleasant. However time was short and they had things to do so we got straight on with it. Two minutes and two poses later and they were off and that was the shoot finished. Talk about being put under pressure to get the image. Luckily I'd foreseen the situation and set up and tested everything before the guys appeared. The result is far from perfect but given the time and location I'm pretty happy with the result as were Volkswagen.
